To celebrate the tenth anniversary of their sister city relationship with Yasu-cho, Japan, Clinton Township, Michigan commissioned this sculpture. We see an American girl handing a book to a Japanese girl. The statue, in the lobby of the public library in Yasu, was dedicated in July of 2003.
